Be a Hero for Children in Foster Care at CASA’s Superhero Run on November 7
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — Lace up your running shoes and grab your cape for the annual CASA Superhero 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Montgomery Whitewater.
CASA of the River Region is hosting the family-friendly event to raise awareness and support for children in foster care.
CASA is a nonprofit organization that trains community volunteers to advocate for abused, neglected or abandoned children involved in family and juvenile court proceedings. These volunteers work to ensure children’s needs are heard and their best interests are represented.
Executive Director Charity Alpert recently spoke with Action 8’s Estee Morrison about the event and how the community can get involved.
Festivities begin at 7:30 a.m. at Montgomery Whitewater, located at 1100 Maxwell Blvd. This location has not changed from last year. The fun run starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K race at 9:15 a.m. An awards ceremony and festival will begin at 10:15 a.m.
Participants can look forward to medals, capes and a team trophy division.
