Hundreds of people visited Troy University to hear notable speakers at the 2016 Leadership Conference. Quenton Martin has attended Troy University’s Leadership Conference for 4 years and says speakers like Civil Rights Activist Juanita Jones Abernathy and Actress Jasmine Guy keep him coming back.
“Just her courage, and her poise. She is a woman of great poise and her demeanor is just amazing. I’m just looking for someone who can speak to the times and can relate to college students.”
The conference not only celebrates Black History Month but empowers everyone to be better leaders.
“The key thing is our primary focus is this discussion about leadership and the idea is that making people understand that you can lead in your home in your church, in your society,” says Christopher Shannon.
“Students need to stand back. Look and see what has been done to make things comfortable for them today. Try and follow some of the older generations and try and take advantage of the opportunities that’s offered to them,” says Ida Martin.
Remembering orgins and gaining opportunities were just a few goals of the conference in hopes to bring forth more effective leaders.
