Two people shot in barricade situation at home in Chilton County

CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office says a barricade situation at a home near Verbena is over, and students at two schools put on lockdown are safe.

Investigators say a woman who was shot inside the home has been removed and flown to a trauma center for treatment. Another person, who had barricaded themselves in the home has been found with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The condition of the barricaded person hasn’t been released. The relationship between the two people also hasn’t been made available.

Verbena elementary and high schools had been put on lockdown as a precaution. The sheriff’s office says there is no danger to the public.
