City of Montgomery announces changes to Veterans Day celebration

Montgomery Veterans Day 111124

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – This year’s Veterans Day celebration is moving from downtown Montgomery to a new location.

The city has announced that it will be held at the VA Hospital on Veterans Way, which is just off Chantilly Parkway near The Home Depot.

The event will not be held on November 11, which is the actual Veterans Day federal holiday, but on Saturday, November 14.

The day-long celebration will feature the annual Veterans Day Parade at 10AM, a Veterans Resource Fair and a ceremonial tribute to those who have served in the Armed Forces.

“Veterans Day is a time for our community to come together in gratitude and appreciation for the men and women who have defended our nation,”  Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said. “We invite residents, veterans, military families, organizations and businesses to join us in this meaningful celebration.”

The parade will feature veterans, active-duty service members, military units, marching bands, schools, community organizations and local leaders in a patriotic display of appreciation and pride.

Organizations interested in participating in the parade must register by November 9, 2026 at https://www.montgomeryal.gov/veterans.
