Golden Tigers resume baseball after rainouts
TUSKEGEE, Ala. (goldentigersports.com) — A day after having two games postponed due to the weather impacting the southeastern United States, the Tuskegee University baseball team will return to action on Wednesday afternoon after the system has moved through the area.
The Golden Tigers will look to end their six-game losing streak on the road at Columbus State University (9-2), who is just outside the top 25 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top 25. The two, who have not met this season, will start at 4 pm (est).
Tuskegee (2-8) will send Christopher Emerson (0-2) to the mound on Wednesday in their only mid-week game this week, and just the third of the season. The last time the Golden Tigers hit the field in mid-week action, they split a twin bill with Selma University at Paterson Field.
Freshman Elgin Woodside continues to lead Tuskegee at the plate, hitting .342 in 38 official at-bats with 13 hits. He has been moved around in the batting order, hitting anywhere from two to four and has responded with a pair of home runs and 10 runs batted in. He also has scored eight runs and recorded three doubles. Ricky Green – who is pulling double duty as a pitcher/first baseman – is hitting .333 with seven hits in 21 at-bats.
Clinton Crews, Christian Marshall and Joseph Mauldin all find themselves at .300 for the season for the Golden Tigers.
