Ala. Sex Offender Sentenced on Porn Conviction

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) – An ex-day care worker in Texas and a convicted sex offender living in Brownsville are going to prison for producing child pornography.

Christina Cortez of Corpus Christi was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in federal prison. A judge in Corpus Christi sentenced 30 year old Matthew Harbin to 35 years.

Cortez and Harbin were arrested last year and pleaded guilty in September to producing child pornography. The 30-year-old Harbin’s prison term includes child pornography violations in Alabama, where he’s a convicted sex offender.

The Texas investigation began when Harbin communicated with someone who turned out to be an undercover officer in Kent County, England.

A criminal complaint says the 39-year-old Cortez said she was working at a day care and provided cellphone images of some of the children in sexually explicit conduct.
