National Read Across America Day

IMG_3317 IMG_1604 IMG_15871March 2 has been deemed National Read Across America Day.

Not only is it National Read Across America Day but its world famous children’s book writer, Dr. Seuss’s, birthday.

Today, and in fact every day, is a day to celebrate the power of reading by promoting learning and supporting new opportunities for students to dive into the pages of a book. Adults are encouraged to read more as well.

Our Alabama News Network Team joined students at local schools to read to them, celebrate this day and promote the importance of reading.

Executive Producer/Digital Anchor, Elise Roberts,  read to the students at Flowers Elementary.

News Anchor, Stefanie Hicks, read to students at Southlawn Elementary.

News Anchor, Olivia Deas, read to students Fitzpatrick Elementary.

Students dressed up in different Dr. Seuss characters in honor of Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss’s birthday.
