Burned Body Found in Birmingham

Birmingham police say a woman whose burned body was found near a trash bin may have been strangled.

A statement from police says medical examiners ruled the death a homicide because the victim had lacerations on her neck from a possible strangulation.

The victim’s name isn’t being released until relatives can be notified.

Police Lt. Sean Edwards says the woman’s body was found around 1 a.m. Monday in an alley on the city’s north side.
