AG Office Requests Delay In Hubbard Hearing, Cites Prosecutor’s Knee Surgery

The attorney general’s office has asked to delay House Speaker Mike Hubbard’s upcoming ethics trial because of a prosecutor’s knee surgery.

Hubbard has a pretrial conference on March 29 and the trial set to being April 11.

Prosecutor Matt Hart is scheduled for knee surgery the week of March 28 and is expected to have limited mobility for up to two weeks.

The state asked Lee County Circuit Judge Jacob Walker to delay the pretrial conference until later in the week of April 11. They asked the judge to start the trial as soon as possible.

Prosecutors said defense lawyers did not oppose the request.

Hubbard faces 23 felony ethics charges accusing him of using his public offices to benefit his businesses.
