The city of Montgomery officially opened it’s latest outdoor park trail. The city hopes the new addition will help Montgomery economically for years to come.
City officials say parts of Lagoon Park was not in good condition, with trash and littering being a big problem. That all changed with the help of volunteers, city and county leaders, Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, and grants.
The park now has a new look with several trails for bikers and hikers. The city hopes it will become a destination point for families, and provide an economic boost.
“My vision is that we have this as a competitive environment out here, that this could be a competitive race venue”, said Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange.
Some of those new projects consists of an amphitheater and a ropes course.
