Golden Tigers announce summer sports camps

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (goldentigersports.com) — The Tuskegee University athletic department will host summer camps on its campus beginning June 3 and running through the first week of August in four different sports.

The Tuskegee University men’s basketball program will kick the summer off with the “Jerry Dunn Basketball Academy @ Skegee” Elite Camp on June 3-4. The camp is $120 to register the day of the camp, and is $90 if on or before May 31. They will continue their camps, hosting the “Jerry Dunn Basketball Academy @ Skegee” Golden Tiger Day Camp I from June 6-10. The camp will run from 8 am until 4 pm, but will feature an extended day care from 7:30 am until 5:30 pm at $10/hr). The camp will run only a half-day on Friday, June 10. Registration is $180 on-site, and $165 for early registration.

The program will run two other camps this summer, the “Jerry Dunn Basketball Academy @ Skegee” Tuskegee Team Camp from June 10-12. The cost is $150 per team. The final camp of the summer for men’s basketball will be the “Jerry Dunn Basketball Academy @Skegee” Golden Tiger Camp II which will run August 1-5.

The Tuskegee University football program, a 2015 NCAA Division II quarterfinalist and HSRN HBCU Division II national champion, will host their annual camp June 11 at Cleve L. Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium. The skills camp will run from 9 am until 2 pm, with a cost of $50. Each camper will get individual attention, and they are encouraged to bring their own cleats, shirts/shorts, socks and towels. There will be an hour break for lunch between practice sessions the day of the camp.

Those are not the only two teams hosting camps this summer, as the volleyball program and coach Melissa Robinson will host three different one-day camps this summer with the first taking place June 15. The first camp is designed for hitters, and run from 9 am until 12 noon at a cost of $60 per athlete. The program will also host a defensive camp on June 22, and a youth skills camp on June 29. Each camp costs $60 to attend and will run from 9 am until 12 noon, with each camper asked to bring their lunch to camp. Deadline for registration is June 1.

The women’s basketball program will also host a camp this summer, hosting the Quacy Barnes Timmons/Tuskegee University team camp June 17-18. The camp costs $250 per team, with a second team at $200, and is limited to the first 24 teams to register. Each team will play three games per day, and will play two 20-minute halves. All teams are required to provide basketballs for warm-up drills prior to game, and should bring both jerseys.
