Montgomery Murder Suspect Turns Herself In Early Sunday Morning

The Montgomery Police Department has made an arrest in the Saturday, April 9, shooting death of 20-year-old Lakeyah Ellington-Hampton of Montgomery.

MPD detectives charged Alisha Womack, 21, of Montgomery with one count of murder. Womack turned herself in to MPD detectives early morning April 10. She was

transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where she was being held under a $150,000 bond.

MPD and Fire Medics responded to the 1200 block of Lynwood Drive on April 9 at about 9:50 p.m. after receiving a report that a subject had been shot. At the scene, they discovered a gunshot victim. Hampton’s injuries proved to be fatal, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

MPD’s investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation. Further investigation identified Womack as a suspect.
