Montgomery Co. DA to Speak at Trenholm State’s Graduation

Councill Trenholm State Community College’s graduation ceremony Friday, May 6 at 6:00 p.m. at Frazer United Methodist Church in Wesley Hall, 6000 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery. “We are very pleased and honored to have D.A. Bailey as our commencement speaker. He is an accomplish lawyer and is very involved in community activities in the River region. I know that he will be a great motivator for our graduates,” said Sam Munnerlyn, president of Trenholm State.

Bailey is an advocate for justice for the citizens of Montgomery County. Serving as the District Attorney for the county since 2014, he has been a firm force against crime, pledging to uphold the rights of victims. He began his postsecondary education by receiving a bachelor’s of arts in communications and political science in 1993 from the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He went on to study law at the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, from which he graduated a Juris Doctor in 1996. In a law career that has spanned almost twenty years, Bailey has been a champion of victims’ rights. He worked first for Montgomery County as a Deputy District Attorney, prosecuting cases of violence against women. He moved on to become Chief Deputy District Attorney before being appointed to serve as the District Attorney for the 15th Judicial Circuit of Alabama in 2014.

Bailey’s distinguished career reflects his attitude of service toward others as evidenced by his many accolades. In 2013, he received the President’s Special Service Award for his work on behalf of domestic violence victims through the Family Sunshine Center. Furthermore, he was a Golden Shield nominee with the Alabama Coalition Against Rape in 2001 and the recipient of the Justice for Victims Award in 2000.

Service to others for the district attorney also comes through his association with multiple community organizations. He has worked with the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Montgomery County Domestic Violence Task Force, the Montgomery Zoological Board, the One Place Family Justice Center Board of Directors, and the Montgomery Mayor’s Strategic Crime Commission. He even finds time to coach youth soccer.

Bailey has been the husband of Tracy Bailey since 1994, and he is the father of a twelve-year old daughter, Laura, and a ten-year old son, Jake. He attends Landmark Church of Christ in Montgomery.

He serves by teaching Sunday School and is acting as a deacon in the children’s ministry.
