4th Annual Crater Fest
The city of Wetumpka came out today to celebrate one of its most unique features. Thousands of people celebrated the 83 million year old impact crater at the fourth annual Crater fest.
It’s the only confirmed impact crater in the entire state.
The Wetumpka Rotary Club held its River Region Duck dash at the fest, raising money for different charities and events.
Jamie Young, Associate Director of Wetumpka Area of Commerce, says “Wetumpka Craterfest is a wonderful event, that brings a lot of economic development to downtown Wetumpka, it brings a lot of focus to our area, it impacts everything. ”
The site is one of only about 6 above ground impact craters in the entire world.
