NATE KIDNEY

Jason Howard says for him to be able to enjoy a day like this is in large part thanks to family and friends, who stepped up almost two years ago to find him a kidney. “We were extremely fortunate had a lot of friends and family sign up, I actually had 18 people sign up to try to test and give to me,”he said.  It still brings him to tears, a close friend donated a kidney to him. Howard said, “he got tested and cleared and said ‘god chose me to do this’ and he went through with it and I was very fortunate that a kidney come from a dear friend of mine and still is today.”

Lori Howard said, “I said God I won’t forget and I will pay this forward. I don’t care who I have to talk to.”

Jeffery “Nate” Puckett’s that chance. They met through a mutual friend. Nate and Jason suffer from the same genetic kidney disease. When he was a kid, Nate got a transplant that lasted almost 18 years, but now he needs a new one. As he waits for a match, he goes to dialysis 3 times a week.

Nate said, “sitting in a chair for 4 hours, not moving, blood getting circulated through you and a machine cleaning your blood, stressful agonizing.”

The Howards are hoping to take away some of the burden, turning to social media to spread the word.

Jason said, “And Lori went to him and asked him do you mind if we help you, somebody stepped forward and helped me there’s a hero out there that wants to help you. We just need to get it out there so they can see it.”

Help from a family that’s been there.
