Thieves Target Hunting Camps
With hunting season winding down, authorities are warning people to remove their valuables from their hunting camps.
Autauga County Sheriff Joe Sedinger says that hunting camps are perfect targets for thieves because the camps are in rural areas and are oftentimes abandoned for weeks or months after the end of hunting season.
Sedinger says thieves look for anything of value, but some particular favorite targets are all-terrain vehicles and guns.
Elmore County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Ricky Lowery says all valuables should be removed from the camps at the end of the season.
Spring turkey season closes April 30 in most Central Alabama counties.
