ALEX CITY COUNCIL FOLO

It’s the calm after the storm in Alexander City. Fists flew during last week’s council meeting. But, Monday night’s meeting was tame.
The incident wasn’t mentioned directly at Monday’s meeting, but it was definitely the elephant in the room. Fists flew between the Mayor Charles Shaw his wife and Councilman Tony Goss at their last meeting. Each council member dancing around the topic, the only two not waltzing around the contention–the two involved in the blows. Neither Shaw nor Gozz made any apology or indirect mention of the altercation.
James Spann, Alexander City- City Council President said, “We need to move on. We need to find a solution to these problems, this disruption, this antagonistic whatever. We got to get past that. We are all adults. We are not a bunch of middle schoolers fighting over baseball.”

The fight was over city finances. And as a step in the right direction, the council unanimously approved hiring an accounting firm to help get the city’s books in order and get caught up since they are two years behind in audits.

A volunteer chaplain offered to sit down with all the members of the council to try and hash out their differences.
The members agreed to come together later this week.
