Trio of Montgomery prep baseballers ink names for next level
MONTGOMERY, Ala (AlabamaNews.Net) — Alabama Christian Academy’sĀ Jackson Britton and Grayson Blackwell are ready to fly the coop, as both Eagles signed letters to play college baseball next season.
Monday morning at a specially called ceremony, Britton signed on with Huntingdon, and Blackwell choosing Southern Union State Community College.
As both were signing their names to the dotted line, so was Carver High School’s Jadarian Mays, who accepted a scholarship to play baseball at Concordia College of Selma.
Mays, a hard-throwing right handed pitcher and infielder was thought to be bound for Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, but Mays says Concordia is the right choice.
” It felt like it was a great fit for me, I like the program, and the team and for my family as well, ” said Mays, as his mother and father sat proudly beside him.
It was a similar theme from both Britton and Blackwell, as both look forward to furthering their baseball careers.
” I’m just excited to take the next step in my career. it just feels like the place for me, it feels like home, I love the coaches, I know some people on the team, I’m just ready to see where it can take me,” said Blackwell.
Signing with Huntingdon made Britton a bit reflective.
“It’s a good feeling, because I wasn’t very good when I was younger. I feel like i’ve come a long way since then. It just feels good to know that I’m going to be playing in college.”
