Folks in Selma mark the National Day of Prayer with three separate ceremonies around town.
People crossed racial and denominational lines to come together and pray for national, state and local elected officials.
They also prayed for help to find solutions to the violence that has plagued the community.
“Its no doubt that prayers are needed all over the world and certainly Selma, is certainly no different, and so the National Day of Prayer is important,” said Selma Mayor George Evans.
The day featured a prayer breakfast, a midday prayer event and a community prayer gathering at Memorial Stadium.
