Dozens of people filled the square in downtown Troy for National Day of Prayer Thursday. The service started and ended with prayer. It included a devotional led by Luke Lane of Troy’s First Baptist Church. People attending the service say their biggest prayers right now are for the leaders of America as the country prepares for the upcoming presidential election. They say it’s important to get back to the country’s roots which they believe is prayer.
Research shows that 63 percent of Christians in the United States say praying everyday is an important part of their faith.
“That we can all be unified together in getting America back but also looking back to God to direct us, to lead us, and go forward,” says Linda Adams.
Before Troy’s National Day of Prayer Service started, people also attended a bible reading marathon on the square, that started Sunday.
