The city council unanimously approved increasing the fine for repeat offenders.
It’ll cost 50 dollars if you choose to park a car not in your driveway, but on your grass. The city council unanimously approved a move to increase the fine for repeat offenders. A second offense will be $150 dollars and the third will now cost $300.
City leaders say they get a lot of complaints about this and how it tarnishes the look of a neighborhood.
Jessica Ford, a resident said, “I think that can be a good thing or a bad thing.”
Phoebe Hall said, “It shouldn’t be a problem especially if it’s not going to be for a long period time. If it were just for a party I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.”
Jessica Ford said, “As far as bringing down the property value, like if somebody was trying to find a home in this neighborhood, it’ll bring the value down because they will think that it’s becoming ghetto or the projects or something.”
The city councilman pushing this ordinance wanted to add a towing provision for more than three offenses, but that idea didn’t make it out for a vote.
