Lake Martin Marine Troopers Prepare for Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day is just a few days away and Lake Martin is getting ready for the large crowds.

Marine troopers are prepared for what could be the most challenging holiday so far because of the lack of troopers patrolling on the lake. With the lake being over 40,000 acres of water, and 750 to 800 miles of shoreline, that’s causing several challenges for ALEA.

Troopers say even with the lack of funding, they’re doing whatever it takes to stay visible during Memorial Day weekend, as well as emphasizing safety. Marine troopers say they want to emphasize more this memorial day weekend is underage drinking.

They say they rest between 60 to 80 underage teenagers every memorial day weekend.
