AL Highway 49 and AL Highway 229 Closes for Railroad Crossing Repairs

rsz_road_closed.jpgThe Alabama Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of two separate road closures while railroad crossing repairs are performed.

Starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 21 the railroad crossing on Alabama Highway 49 will be closed. The crossing will reopen, weather permitting, by noon on Thursday, June 23.

Starting at 6 a.m. Thursday, June 23 the railroad crossing on Ala. Hwy 229 will be closed. The crossing will reopen, weather permitting, by noon on Sunday, June 26.

Detour for Ala. Hwy 49
Motorists intending to travel on Ala. Hwy 49 North will need to travel on Interstate 85 South to exit 26 and use Ala. Hwy 229 North, to Ala. Hwy 14 East, back onto Ala. Hwy 49.

Motorists intending to travel on Ala. Hwy 49 South will need to travel to Ala. Hwy 14 West and use Ala. Hwy 229 South, to I-85 North to exit 32, back onto Ala. Hwy 49.

Motorists intending to travel on Ala. Hwy 229 North will need to travel on I-85 North to exit 32 and use Ala. Hwy 49 North, to Ala. Hwy 14 West, back onto Ala. Hwy 229.

Motorists intending to travel on Ala. Hwy 229 South will need to travel to Ala. Hwy 14 East and use Ala. Hwy 49 South, to I-85 South to exit 26, back onto Ala. Hwy 229.
