Prattville Girl Heading to the White House

From the city of Prattville to the White House. It’s a trip one middle school student will make later this week to receive special recognition from First Lady Michelle Obama.

Lael Jefferson is a 7th grader in Prattville. One of her biggest hobbies is cooking. She decided to enter one of her recipes to the White House healthy lunchtime challenge. The initiative was started by First Lady Michelle Obama to promote healthy eating habits for young people, and out of thousands of entries submitted across the country Lael’s recipe won. Later this week Lael heads to the White House, where she will also get an opportunity  to meet the First Lady.

“She really cares about healthy eating and stopping obesity, she’s like a role model to me, so it’s like meeting your favorite celebrity, but even bigger than that,” says Jefferson.

Lael is going to the White House with her mother this Wednesday.
