Suspected Baton Rouge Shooter was a University of Alabama Alum
The gunman who allegedly shot and killed three Baton Rouge police officers and wounded three others has a connection to Alabama.
According to the University of Alabama, 29-year-old Gavin Long attended the school for one semester in spring of 2012.
He made the Dean’s list for that semester.
The school says University of Alabama Police Department did not have any interaction with him while he was a student.
Clark Atlanta University officials say Baton Rouge gunman Gavin Eugene Long was also briefly enrolled at the Atlanta university during the 2012-13 academic year.
Clark Atlanta said in a statement Monday morning that the university “categorically denounces this heinous act.”
Long, a former Marine from Kansas City, Missouri, turned 29 on Sunday, the same day he opened fire, killing three law enforcement officers and wounding three others. Long was killed at the scene.
The shooting added to the tensions across the country between the black community and police.
