3 Candidates Compete for Mayor of Troy
There are 3 candidates up for Mayor in Troy, including the city’s current mayor Jason Reeves.
Reeves says the city has seen significant growth in the last year. He has served Troy for the past 4 years as mayor. He hopes to continue to see Troy thrive with the addition of more jobs and opportunities for area youth. Retired city of Troy employee Raymond Sexton and former Troy Police Officer Olanda Harvey are hoping to unseat Reeves in the upcoming election.
“We do have a lot of things going on here. We do need to make some more progress in doing more industrial type, so that we have real jobs and not just retail,” says Sexton.
“I understand that business is important to the community, growth is important, but I also believe that a child left behind inside of a classroom is extremely important,” Harvey.
Voters head to the polls for city elections Tuesday, August 23rd.
