August in Alabama
FINALLY FRIDAY: Very little change in our weather forecast for today as we continue to deal with hot and humid weather. Highs will be in the upper 90s again today and we are once again under a Heat Advisory as heat index values will range from 100°-109°. Heat relief will come from showers and storms that pop-up across Alabama, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours, and some of these storms today could pack a punch with gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. Is it nearly impossible to pinpoint when and where storms develop.
THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: With the ridge being maintained, you can expect highs to be near 100° Saturday with only isolated afternoon storms. Then Sunday, our rain chance increase back to 30-40% range and highs will be in the upper 90s.
INTO NEXT WEEK: Better rain chances return next week as the air aloft becomes a little colder, plus an area of low pressure is expected to develop in the northern Gulf of Mexico, meaning we should see an uptick in the number of scattered showers and storms. Highs drops into the low 90s.
Have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend,
Stay cool!
Ryan
