Better Rain Chances, Not as Hot
FOR TODAY: A surface boundary has stalled across Central Alabama, and with an area of low pressure along the Gulf Coast, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be likely throughout the day, but more numerous mainly from noon until 10PM tonight. It will be mostly cloudy and highs will be in the lower 90s today. Precipitable water values at or over 2 inches for the most part, rainfall could be heavy at times. Severe weather is not expected, but winds could be gusty and cloud-to-ground lightning will be frequent. Rain chances will start to go down during the evening, but the risk for a shower or storm is still there overnight. Lows will be in the 70s.
THE WEEK AHEAD: With the low pushing its way back up from the Gulf Coast, we will have a good chance for showers and storms each day during the work week. Tuesday looks like most of the shower activity will occur during the afternoon and evening hours, but for the rest or the week it could rain at anytime of the day. With the rain and increased cloud coverage, afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 80s for the most part, with a few places reaching 90. Overnight lows will be in the 70s. Rain totals for the next ten days in Central Alabama should average in the 2-4 inch range.
THE WEEKEND: Much of the same story for Saturday and Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms will still be in the forecast, but the rain coverage should drop back a bit. Highs will still be a tad lower than normal, in the mid to upper 80s, with overnight lows in the 70s.
Have a marvelous Monday!
Ryan
