TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WAKA) – Action 8 News has confirmed that a former Macon County Sheriff’s deputy has been accused of holding a woman and her baby at gunpoint in Tuskegee.

Macon County Sheriff Andre’ Brunson says it happened at a home yesterday on Hajack Drive. Brunson says he was able to safely negotiate with the man to get the woman and baby out of the house.

Brunson says the man then shot himself in the chest. He was flown to a hospital for treatment. His condition isn’t yet known.

Brunson said the deputy was let go from the sheriff’s office earlier this year after he was charged with domestic violence.

Brunson says the man will now face multiple charges, including kidnapping and assault.
