Rain Chances on the Way Down for the Weekend

Little change in the weather today as very warm temperatures and very high dew points continue to allow for lots of clouds and scattered to numerous showers again. We are still tracking the upper low that has been drifting westward along the Gulf Coast as it continues to pump all that Gulf moisture north into the state. The radar this morning shows plenty showers tracking south to north through the state. These showers are moving fairly quickly, but if you find yourself under one, you will get a brief downpour.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: The upper low will be losing its influence over our weather as it weakens and is absorbed into a boundary north of the state. The upper ridge will begin to try and build back into the Southeast. Over the weekend, the weather will be drier and sunnier. Expect a mix of sun and clouds, with highs in the lower to mid 90s both Saturday and Sunday. Showers and storms remain possible, but they will be more scattered in nature, and mainly during afternoon hours.

STANDARD AUGUST WEATHER: For next week we are in for a standard summer weather forecast. Each day will be hot and humid, as afternoon highs will be in the 90s. Rain chances will be lower next week, and will be more like we expect this time of year. Mainly those daily variety isolated to scattered and and evening showers and thunderstorms. Rain chances next week look to be in the 20-30% range.
