A pep rally at Francis Marion School has students and teachers dancing in the stands but the excitement had nothing to do with the football team.

The pep rally was part of the Apple Student Rollout Celebration.

Francis Marion School was one of only 114 nationwide that were awarded the Apple ConnectEd grant.

School officials say the grant is a multi-million dollar investment that will transform the learning environment at the school.

Freshman Elriana Williams got her new iPad Thursday.

“Its very exciting because we get to learn more and we didn’t have enough books at first and now we have technology where everyone will receive one.”

Francis Marion School has 784 students and about 80 teachers.
