Donate to the American Red Cross to Help Louisiana Flood Victims
The American Red Cross is accepting monetary donations to help flooding victims in Louisiana. At last check, this is how the flooding has affected the state:More than 75,000 Louisiana residents have been impacted by these storms
- More than 40,000 homes are destroyed or damaged
- Officials and volunteers have made more than 30,000 water rescues
- The Red Cross is currently sheltering more than 8,400 people
- More than 1,000 disaster volunteers are mobilized from all 50 states and on the ground in Louisiana
- 36 shelters have already been established in Southern Louisiana
- More than 60 disaster relief vehicles have been deployed with nearly 40,000 ready-to-eat meals
- Red Cross estimates the cost of their relief operations to exceed $30 million
- Volunteers are still challenged by more than 100 road closures and weather conditions
- Thousands are without power in 100 plus degree heat
- Donations are being accepted now at 1-800-RED-CROSS or texting the word LAFLOODS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Donors can also visit the American Red Cross website at www.redcross.org
