Veteran Gives American Flag a Voice

His name is Bill Stewart and he’s changing the way we look at the American flag by giving it a voice–literally.
The flag that stands for our democracy and our history broke its silence 2001 when the Montgomery Exchange Club asked Bill Stewart to speak. That’s when he decided to write something different.
“I decided to make it the flag speaking because we all, we don’t think about it, so I decided I’ll be the voice of the flag. I’ll speak for the flag,” said Stewart.
He called the speech “I am Your Flag”.The six minute presentation gives the flag’s perspective on the history of America and what it’s seen.
The 26 year veteran of the Air Force says the audience reaction has been emotional.
“If it’s successful in the six minutes that I give it, if there’s women with tears running down their faces and I’ve seen men with a few tears, I know I’ve really hit home with it. He’s traveled all across Alabama and even to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to deliver the speech.
Stewart says he doesn’t charge because he think it’s his way of giving back to the country.
