Alex City Sees an Increase in Sales Tax
Alexander City residents will soon have to pay a little more in sales tax.
That money will fund road improvements. This week, the city council approved the half cent increase.
That means you’ll pay nine cents on the dollar up from eight and half on purchases you make in the city limits.
City officials expect to collect more than a million dollars a year from the increase…which will go for long term improvements.
Including paving and resurfacing bumpy roads.
The city will start collecting the extra tax in November.
