Tuskegee’s Warner places Top 20 at UWG opener
CARROLLTON, Ga. (goldentigersports.com) — Chante Warner finished in the top 20 individually, pacing the Tuskegee University cross country team to a fifth place finish Friday night at the UWG Season Opener.
Warner finished 17th overall with a time of 25:51.11, finishing just 25 seconds from 16th place and just 29 seconds from a top 15 finish in the race.
Wamika Kemp finished 19th overall with a time of 26:37.78 – just 25 seconds from 18th – while teammate Ariel Watson finished 26th overall in a time of 29:14.68. Matoaka Wilson finished just outside the top 25, crossing the line 28th in a time 29:28.84.
Maya Saunders (37:01.12) rounded out the runners for Tuskegee.
Tuskegee finished fifth overall with 125 points, finishing just behind SIAC foe Clark Atlanta with 122.
The team will have week off next week to rest after two consecutive weeks, before returning to run five consecutive weeks.
