Troy University Student Creates Scholarship Fund

A Troy University student is paving the way for other students on campus by creating a new scholarship fund.

Sophomore Cole Debardelaben created the Robert N. Cole Debardelaben Scholarship.  He’s the first student to create a scholarship fund for the university. It’s a $1,000 scholarship for incoming freshman that earn the university’s Millennium Scholarship. The Millennium Scholarship covers tuition, housing, and a meal plan. Cole’s scholarship picks up remaining expenses that the Millennium Scholarship doesn’t cover.

“It doesn’t cover books and things like that, so they may have to still end up paying money to attend Troy. Some people are only here because they earned their scholarships. I’m one of those people,” says  Debardelaben.

Debardelaben says he plans to increase the amount of his scholarship fund after he graduates.
