Lady Hornets’ “Think Pink” in October

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (bamastatesports.com) – The Alabama State University softball team will be hosting two tournaments this fall.

On October 8, ASU will be hosting Brewton-Parker College, Jefferson Davis Community College, Alabama Southern Community College, and Southern Union State Community College.

Games start at 8:00 a.m. and will continue all day with the last game starting at about 7:40 p.m. With October just around the corner, the softball team will be using this tournament as their “Think Pink” event.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the program would like to help with the cause by raising funds and collecting donations for breast cancer foundations.

The proceeds go to help find the cure for breast cancer as well as help families who are currently trying to pay for medical expenses that the disease may bring.

On the day of the tournament, there will be representatives and former players of the softball team at the front gate as well as walking around with pink helmets asking for donations. All proceeds will go to a breast cancer foundation in Montgomery.

The team wants to express their support to all those who have have had breast cancer or who have survived it. If anyone at ASU has suffered from this terrible disease, please e-mail head softball coach Chris Steiner Wilcoxson with your name so we can recognize you at this event.

Softball is all about being a family and helping each other get better and stronger. So choosing Think Pink and supporting Breast Cancer Awareness allows the softball team to help fellow ASU staff or students to get better and stronger by helping with the fight against breast cancer.

If you plan on attending this tournament, please consider donating and it would be greatly appreciated.

For any further questions or if you would like to be recognized at the game, feel free to contact coach Steiner-Wilcoxson @ cwilcoxson@alasu.edu
