From the West Alabama Newsroom–  A Greensboro family continues to try to cope with tragedy after a seven year old family member is shot and killed Saturday night — after getting caught in the crossfire of a shootout between two men.

It happened in front of the family’s mobile home at the corner of Washington and Kilpatrick Streets in Greensboro.

Witnesses say Decorrion Johnson was shot while playing with other children when two men started shooting at one another. Lavares Jackson and JaPaul Williams are now in custody.

Hale County District Attorney Michael Jackson said the gun fight was apparently over a female.

“These two guys have been charged with capital murder on a no bond so they can’t get out and also attempted murder. We want to make sure they stay locked up. This kind of behavior won’t be tolerated,” said Jackson.

Suspects — Lavares Jackson and JaPaul Williams are being held in the Hale County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
