Speaking Out After A Triple Murder Suspect Hideouts In Home

A man wanted for three Florida murders is caught in Pike County after hiding out at a hunting lodge.

Alabama News Network sits down exclusive with the man living on the property.

Michael wants to keep his identity private but did want to share his story, after Derrick Thomson was arrested on the property in July.

Michael’s known Thompson for three years and had a gut feeling he’d head to the hunting camp outside of Troy after allegedly killing three people in Florida within a 48 hour time frame.

Michael made the last minute decision to go on a trip to Europe, so he was not home at the time.

But called police to check on his home and authorities staked out the property overnight and took him into custody without incident just after sunrise.

Michael said, “He made himself at home. He showered he shaved. He ate food. And that’s scary to think that this is going in your house. This guy is now a sociopathic serial killer I guess is what you would call him. And so many times we had shared meals and hunting experiences and fishing experiences over the course of the last three years. And it’s just like wow did I dodge a bullet. Literally.”

Authorities say Thompson confessed to the murders, but then pled not guilty in his first court appearance.

Prosecutors may seek the death penalty.
