Crimson Tide’s “Voice” Eli Gold hits Capital City Tuesday
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AlabamaNews.Net) — The radio voice of Alabama Crimson Tide Football boomed through the Montgomery Country Club Tuesday night.
Gold was the featured speaker for the Montgomery Quarterback Club’s weekly banquet.
The Tide’s radio play by play man, who has been at the microphone for the Tide since 1988, had plenty of stories and anecdotes for attendees.
Gold, like many college football fans, says he was somewhat surprised by LSU’s Sunday firing of former head coach Les Miles.
” The guy had far more wins than he had losses, and he was a nice guy, said Gold.
” He is a nice guy, nice guys don’t necessarily continue on in their position, I understand that. But, every time I needed a comment, sat down with him for a pre-game interview, whatever it might be, he was always very gracious.”
