Kid’s Day Food Drive Benefits Selma Charity

DONATIONFrom the West Alabama Newsroom–

A Selma non-profit working to help people in poverty gets a huge food donation from the sponsor of the Central Alabama Fair.

The Selma Lion’s Club donated hundreds of pounds of food to the Christian Outreach Alliance Food Pantry, a faith-based non-profit organization that’s on a mission to feed the needy.

The donation was collected at a food drive at the Central Alabama Fair on Alabama News Network Kid’s Day.

The Selma Lion’s Club sponsors the annual fair.

“We let the kids get in free at the fair, one can of food to help the food banks of Selma Alabama for the needy that needs the food they can’t afford to buy,” said Fair manager and Selma Lion’s Club member John Haskell.

The food pantry hands out about 250 eight pound bags of food each week.
