Lacey grabs 3rd SIAC Offensive Player of the Week honor this season
ATLANTA (goldentigersports.com) — For the sixth consecutive week, the 8th-ranked Tuskegee University Golden Tigers were awarded by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), and for the third time this season senior quarterback Kevin Lacey has been named the SIAC Offensive Player of the Week announced by the conference office Monday morning.
The senior accounted for 300 of the team’s 335 yards of offense in a hard-fought 28-19 victory over Morehouse in the 81st annual Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic Saturday in Columbus.
Lacey finished the day 18-for-29 with one interception and a career-high four touchdowns. Those touchdowns were 16 yards to Leo Gilbert in the first quarter and an eight-yard touchdown to Javarrius Cheatham in the fourth quarter. In between, the senior threw a 60-yard touchdown to Desmond Reece and a 50-yard pass to Dekendrick Moncrief.
He was also named the Most Valuable Player on the Tuskegee side for the 81st Classic, while completing 62.1 percent of his passes on the day.
The Golden Tigers will have a week off next week before they will face three consecutive SIAC West Division opponents, beginning October 22 against Kentucky State for homecoming.
