Authorities say an escaped Wilcox County inmate was free for all of three hours before investigators found him in the woods.

The Alabama Department of Corrections said in a news release that 31-year-old Jonathan M. Hill escaped from the Camden Work Release Center on Wednesday morning.

Later that morning, Hill was recaptured in the woods behind the facility.

Officials say Hill has served about two and half years of a 20-year sentence for first-degree robbery in Mobile County.
