Montgomery Rotary Club Hosts International Night for Officers at Maxwell AFB

The U.S. State Department invites countries to send military officials to Maxwell Air Force Base for one year of training.
And Thursday night they got to mingle in the their native dress with other officers from around the world.
Over 70 different countries are represented.
These officers are all training hoping to bring valuable knowledge back to their homelands.
Lt. Col. Rafael Jurado from Panama says, “very nice experience to learn how the civilians in other countries act because they have so many different ideas on things.”
The Montgomery Rotary Club is hoping that these officers and their families will take home more than just their military training.
“The goal is just to ensure they have a good time when they are here. That they learn about Montgomery, about Alabama, and about our country and what we stand for and the things we do and we learn a lot about them. This event is so fun because you meet people from all over these and these are truly the world leaders in their own countries,” said Rosemary Blackmon, Rotary President.
The Rotary Club helps to host these families throughout their year in the capital city.
And many of the officers tell us they feel very welcome.
“Montgomery is very nice. People are very accommodating and very hospitable. I was surprised that they were holding an international night for us international officers,” said Col. Erickson Gloria from the Philippines.
