Eagles ranked 22nd in NAIA Preseason Coaches’ Poll

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (faulknereagles.com) – Faulkner’s men’s basketball team ranks No. 22 in the NAIA Preseason Coaches’ Poll the national office announced Tuesday evening. This is the team’s first preseason Top 25 appearance since 2013 when the Eagles entered the year ranked No. 13.

A host of upcoming Faulkner opponents are also peppered throughout the list including No. 2 Georgetown (Ky.), No. 10 William Carey (Miss.), No. 11 Campbellsville (Ky.) and 19th-ranked Pikeville (Ky.).

Faulkner and William Carey are the only two programs representing the Southern States Athletic Conference in the Top 25, though Dalton State (Ga.) sits deep in the receiving votes pool.

The Eagles open the regular season at home in the annual Jimmy Faulkner Classic at Tine Davis Gymnasium this weekend. Faulkner hosts Selma University at 7 p.m. Friday evening followed by Oakwood University in the same time slot on Saturday.
