Therapy More Effective the Medication for Anxiety

While anti-depressants are a common treatment for social anxiety disorder, new research suggests talk therapy is more effective and can have longer lasting effects.  

The study in the journal Lancet Psychiatry looked at data on more than 13,000 people with severe social anxiety. 

Researchers found cognitive behavioral therapy – which focuses on helping people overcome irrational fears and avoidance of social situations – worked best.
