Ceremony in Selma Honors Military Veterans

People in the Selma-Dallas County area honored the service and sacrifice of the veterans of the United States military.

Hundreds gathered at Memorial Stadium to show their gratitude to every soldier who’s ever served to protect our nation’s freedom.

Patriotic music, a flag folding ceremony and a wreath laying ceremony highlighted the event.

Selma native, retired Air Force Col. Thad Mauldin was the keynote speaker.

“I just want people to understand that, that its important that they realize what the veterans contribute to the quality of life that we have here in the United States today,” he said.

Mauldin is a former CEO and Executive Director of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center & U.S. Space Camp in Huntsville.
