Melton Discusses Plans for Selma

New Selma mayor Darrio Melton has big plans for the city.

We talked one on one with him about what they are and what residents can expect from his administration.

Melton took over the reigns of the city two weeks ago.

He says he is currently making an assessment of each city department.

Melton says public safety is his top priority and residents can expect to see some changes at the police department.

“We’re going to do some restructuring over there, said Melton.

“As you know crime is an issue here in Selma and apparently we need to do something different in regard to making sure we address the crime issues that we have in our city.”

Melton says he also plans to continue efforts by the previous administration to develop the city’s riverfront area.
