A major fund raising effort is underway at the National Voting Rights Museum and Institute in Selma.

Museum board member Louretta Wimberly says an engraved brick project will help maintain and improve the facility.

She says bricks cost $100 dollars and buying one helps to carry on the legacy of the foot soldiers of the Selma Voting Rights movement.

“The brick represent a stone. It means that this is how we came over and now I have an opportunity to continue that growth and that moving forward,” said Wimberly.

For more information on how you can purchase a brick or make a donation to the museum call (334) 418-0800.
