Warmer Days Ahead

WARMER WEDNESDAY: The morning chill will be the only part of tomorrow that will feel like winter. As we head through the day tomorrow, we are going to see a brighter sky and temperatures will climb towards the lower and mid 60s. No threat of rain, but clouds will increase late tomorrow night ahead of a weak frontal boundary that will move through the state in a mainly dry fashion early Thursday.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: A few more clouds in the Alabama sky Thursday, but we should begin to see more sun return by the afternoon, then sunshine in full supply on Friday. Both these days will be dry, and highs will range from the upper 50s to mid 60s throughout South/Central Alabama.

CHRISTMAS WEEKEND: A few tweaks in the forecast for the holiday weekend, with a few more clouds expected and an isolated shower or two possible mainly for the northern half of the state. For the weekend, our winds shift out of the south and this southerly flow will bring moist air back up into Alabama. This will allow for more clouds both days this weekend, and the models continue to suggest a few showers possible Saturday over North Alabama. Then on Christmas Day, a few scattered showers are possible for much of North/Central Alabama, but nothing heavy or widespread, and certainly no severe weather. It will be another mild Christmas for us all in Central Alabama this year, as temperatures will be in the mid 60s Saturday, followed by low 70s on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, if you are dreaming of a white Christmas, that is exactly what it will be here in Alabama, only a dream, as it will be too warm.

FINAL WEEK OF 2016: We will maintain the risk of showers into the first part of next week as moist air stays in place, but the main dynamic support will be north and west of Alabama thanks to an upper high setting up over Florida. Unfortunately rain amounts should remain on the light side. Also, temperatures will stay mild with highs well up in the 70s much of next week as the Polar Express will be shut down for a while.
